You're good at this. You're just doing it for someone else.

Here's the thing. Most of the people who call us aren't looking for a hobby. They're sales leaders, operators and marketers who've hit the ceiling. Great at what they do, capped on what they earn, and a little tired of building equity they'll never own.

They want ownership. Income they control. And honestly, work that actually matters to the people around them.

Your best years should build something that's yours. Ideally something that makes your whole community feel better.

We've walked this road.

We spent years in corporate. JoJo was closing enterprise deals at HP and Microsoft. Kyle was running big sales teams and call centers. Great careers, great benefits, and a nagging feeling every Sunday night that we were building someone else's dream.

So we started vetting franchises like it was our second job (it kind of was). We picked one and went all in, opening three locations. Spoiler: we didn't know what we didn't know. And the support we were promised? Let's just say it wasn't what we pictured.

Then life shifted. We got sober, went looking for natural ways to handle stress, and found float therapy. One float and we were hooked. We bought a used float cabin, Kyle installed it himself with zero experience and a lot of YouTube, and it booked up within months. That's when we knew. We pivoted and opened our own wellness studio.

We built it into a profitable business, and people kept walking in saying, "I want to do what you're doing." Soooo, we created the franchise we wish we'd had: real support, founders who actually pick up the phone, and a playbook built from every lesson we learned the hard way (so you don't have to).

JoJo and Kyle, founders of Altered States Wellness

The full recovery stack. One roof. Zero white coats.

Our guests are busy professionals, athletes and people investing in living longer. They want float, sauna, cold plunge, red light and real data on how they're doing, and they don't want to drive to four places to get it. We're not a med spa and we're not a one-trick studio. That's the point.

Franchise FAQ

How much does it cost to open an Altered States Wellness franchise?

The total estimated investment is $356,800 to $684,000, which includes the $49,500 initial franchise fee, buildout, equipment and working capital. Your number depends on your market, your site and how much buildout the space needs. The full breakdown is in Item 7 of our FDD and in our Franchise Guide.

What are the financial requirements to own a franchise?

We look for at least $100,000 in liquid capital and a net worth of $500,000. Many owners also use financing for part of the investment.

Do I get a protected territory?

Yes. Every studio comes with a protected territory, so another Altered States studio won't open in your area. Territory size is based on population and is spelled out in your franchise agreement. We'll map your market with you during your territory review.

What are the ongoing royalty and marketing fees?

The royalty is 7% of gross revenue, and the brand fund is up to 2%. You'll also invest in local marketing for your studio. We walk through every fee on your unit economics call, and they're all in the FDD.

How much can an Altered States franchise owner make?

We can't share earnings information on our website. Our Franchise Disclosure Document includes Item 19 with real studio financial performance, and we walk through it with qualified candidates on the unit economics call. Results vary by owner, location and market.

Do I need a medical or wellness background?

Nope. Altered States is providerless. There are no injectors, no prescribing and no clinical licensing needed to run a studio. What matters more is a background in sales, marketing, operations or leading a team, plus a real love for helping people feel better.

Can I run a studio semi-absentee?

Yes, with a strong local manager. We do need you present and involved through pre-opening, launch and your first year, because that's when the habits that make a studio successful get built.

How many employees does a studio need?

Most studios run with 3 to 4 people: one full-time manager and two or three part-time team members. Because we're providerless, you're not hiring or managing therapists.

How long does it take to open?

Typically 9 to 12 months from signing. We help with site selection, lease negotiation, design and buildout the whole way, and our Founding Member playbook starts building your membership base before you open.

How much space do I need?

About 2,500 to 3,000 square feet, usually in a retail center close to busy professionals and families.

What services does an Altered States Wellness studio offer?

Float therapy, infrared sauna, cold plunge, red light therapy, PEMF, compression boots and nervous system scans, plus a salt cave in select studios. Studios also sell retail, including our own line of Altered States branded products, and host experiences like couples date nights, sound baths and group events.

How is Altered States different from other wellness franchises?

We're not a med spa, so there are no providers or clinical overhead. We're also not a single-modality studio, so guests get the full recovery stack under one membership. And our nervous system scans give guests data on their progress, which most recovery studios can't offer.

What training and support do franchisees get?

You get hands on founder-led support ever step of the way. We built this franchise with support as the number one priority. From online training and SOP's to live calls, profit coaching, to our personal phone numbers. You will never not feel supported.

Can I own more than one studio?

Yes, and we hope you will. Multi-unit owners get a discount on additional franchise fees. Ask us about it on your intro call.

Where are franchise territories available?

We are an emerging brand with many open territories. Reach out to find out if your city is available.

How do I finance an Altered States franchise?

Our owners have used SBA loans, HELOCs and term loans, and ROBS 401(k) rollovers. We're not a lender and can't guarantee financing, but we can introduce you to lenders who know the model.
